- 1820 - 1850 H.I.M. Emperor Tao-kuang [Hsüan Tsung Huang Ti] [Hsiao T'ien Fu Yün Li Ch'ung T'i Chęng Chih Węn Shęng Wu Chih Yung Jęn Tz'u Chien Ch'in Hsiao Ming Chęng], the Great Illustrious Emperor of the Great Ch'ing Dynasty, Son of Heaven, Lord of Myriad Years, etc. b. 16th September 1782, educ. privately. Succeeded on the death of his father, 2nd September 1820. Proclaimed 3rd October 1820. m. twenty wives, including four empresses (first) 22nd December 1796, H.I.M. Empress Hsiao Mu-sheng (d. at Peking, 17th February 1808, Mu-ling Mausoleum, Hebei), raised to the title of Empress as Mu-sheng Huang Hou 18th October 1820, and the posthumous title of Hsiao Mu-sheng Huang Hou 10th July 1821, daughter of Buyantalai, of the Niuhuru clan, sometime Presdt. of a Financial Tribunal. m. (second) January 1809, H.I.M. Empress Hsiao Shen-sheng (d. at Peking, 16th June 1833, bur. Mu-ling Mausoleum, Hebei), raised to the title of Empress as Shen-sheng Huang Hou 28th December 1822, with the and the posthumous title of Hsiao Shen-sheng Huang Hou 7th September 1833, daughter of Shuminga, Tch'eng-ngen-kong, of the Tunggiya clan. m. (third) H.I.M. Empress Hsiao Kuan-sheng (b. 1808; d. at Peking, 13th February 1840, bur. Mu-ling Mausoleum, Hebei), raised to the ranks of Kuan Pin, prom. to Kuan Fei 26th December 1823, Kuan Kuei Fei 30th May 1825, Kuan Huang Kuei Fei 28th September 1833, Empress as Kuan-sheng Huang Hou 18th November 1834, and the posthumous title of Hsiao Kuan-sheng Huang Hou 19th February 1840, daughter of Baron Yi Ling, Tch'eng-ngen-kong, of the Niuhuru clan, sometime Guardian 2nd class of the Imperial Guard. m. (fourth) H.I.M. Dowager Empress Hsiao Ching-sheng (b. 1812; d. at Peking, 21st August 1855, bur. Mu-ling Mausoleum, Hebei), granted the titles of Jing Kuei Jęn, prom. to Jing Pin 29th December 1826, Jing Fei 15th May 1827, Jing Kuei Fei 3rd December 1834, Jing Huang Kuei Fei March 1850, and to Jing Huang Kuei T'ai Fei 4th March 1850, and raised to that of Empress Dowager with the title of Ching-sheng Huang T'ai Hou 13th August 1855, and the posthumous title of Hsiao Ching-sheng Huang T'ai Hou 20th September 1855, daughter of Hualangga, a Second Class Secretary in the Brd. of Punishments, of the Borjigit clan. He d. at Yuan Ming Yuan, Peking, 25th February 1850 (bur. Mu-ling Mausoleum, Hebei), having had issue, nine sons and ten daughters, including:
- 1) H.I.H. Prince (Huang Tzu) Yi-wei, 1st Prince (To Lo Chün Wang) Yin-chieh. b. 16th May 1808 (s/o a lady from the Yehonala clan). Granted the rank of To Lo Pei Lę, and posthumously prom. to To Lo Chün Wang with the designation of Yin-chieh 1850. He d.s.p. 23rd May 1831 (succ. by Tsai-chih, son of Yi-chi of the Imperial clan - see above).
- 2) H.I.H. Prince (Huang Tzu) Yi-kang, 1st Prince (To Lo Chün Wang) Shun. b. 22nd November 1826 (s/o Dowager Empress Hsiao Ching-sheng). He d. 5th March 1827.
- 3) H.I.H. Prince (Huang Tzu) Yi-chi, Prince (To Lo Chün Wang) Hui. b. 2nd December 1829 (s/o Dowager Empress Hsiao Ching-sheng). He d. 22nd January 1830.
- 4) H.I.H. Prince (Huang Tzu) Yi-chu, who succeeded as H.I.M. Hsien-feng, Great Emperor of the Great Ching Dynasty (s/o Empress Hsiao Kuan-sheng) - see below.
- 5) H.I.H. Prince (Huang Tzu) Yi-tsung [Chin], 2nd Prince Tun (Tun Ho Shę Ch'in Wang). b. 23rd July 1831 (s/o a secondary consort), educ. privately. Chamberlain Imperial Bodyguard 1856, Head Tutor in Manchu to the Emperor 1862, Presdt. Ministry for Imperial Affairs. Adopted by Prince Mien-k'ai, 1st Prince Tun in 1846, and prom. to the title of Ho Shę Ch'in Wang Tun 1860, He d. at Peking, 18th February 1889, having had issue, eight sons:
- a) Tsai-lien. Received his name on 8th May 1855, educ. privately. Deprived of his styles and titles for his part in the Boxer rebellion 1901. Placed under house arrest 1901. He d. 1917, having had issue:
- i) H.H. Prince (Ku Shan Pei Tzu) P'u-ch'eng. b. 1873, educ. privately. A candidate for the throne in 1908. m. Lady Consort (Fu Jen) Ching-kuei, a Manchu from the Fu-ch'a clan. He d. 1932, having had issue: CopyrightŠ Christopher Buyers
- (1) H.H. Prince (Fęng Ęn Chęn Kuo Kung) Yü-t'ai. b. 1894, educ. Inner Court Sch., Hsinking. m. at Hsinking, Manchuria, a Japanese-educated Chinese lady (m. second, ...), daughter of a former Minister for Culture. He d.s.p. at Hsinking, Manchuria, 1946.
- (2) H.H. Prince (Fęng Ęn Chęn Kuo Kung) Yü-yan [Yan-jui]. b. at Tun Wang Fu, Peking, 1918 (s/o Lady Ching-kuei), educ. Inner Court Sch, Hsinking. Imprisoned in Siberia 1945-1950 during which time he was adopted as heir by Emperor KangiTeh, then at Fu Shun Detention Centre at Harbin, Manchuria 1950-1957, thereafter a road sweeper and calligrapher, state consultant for the restoration of Prince Tuns Palace 1987. m. (first) at Hsinking, Manchuria, 1943, Ching-lan (d. at Tien Cheng, 1948), a Manchu of the Ma-chia clan. m. (second) at Peking, 196x, Chang Yün-fang, a Han Chinese. He d. 1997, having had issue, three sons:
- (a) The Noble (Fu Kuo Chiang Chün) Hęng-chen [Yüan Yüan]. b. 1944 (s/o Ching-lan). Film projectionist with the Crop Production Unit of the PLA in Shihezi. m. Tu Yan-ling, a widow. He has issue, one son:
- (i) The Noble (Fęng Kuo Chiang Chün) Chin-hsin [Heng Hsin]. b. 1977, educ. Peking.
- (b) The Noble (Fu Kuo Chiang Chün) Hęng-k'ai [Li Li]. b. at T'ien Cheng, 1945 (s/o Ching-lan). Electrician at an agricultural hospital in Hebei Province. m. Liu Hsiu-chüan, teacher. He has issue, one son:
- (i) The Noble (Fęng Kuo Chiang Chün) Chin-ying Hui. b. 1980, educ. Hebei.
- (c) The Noble (Fu Kuo Chiang Chün) Hęng-chün [Tung Tung]. b. in Shan-his Province, 1966 (s/o Chang Yün-fang), educ. No. 112 Financial Occupation Trng. Snr. Middle Sch., Peking. Named Hęng-t'ao by Emperor Hsuan-tung [P'u-yi] and now styled Chia Pin (the Honourable) Aisin Gioro (Aixinzhueluo) Hęng-chün. Bank employee. CopyrightŠ Christopher Buyers
- ii) H.H. Prince (Ku Shan Pei Tzu) P'u-hsiu. Companion of the Chien Ching Gate, Mbr. Institute for Classical & Historical Studies. He went blind. He d. at Peking, after 1956.
- b) Prince (To Lo Pei Lę) Tsai-yi. Received his name on 1st December 1856, educ. privately. Adopted as heir to the first Prince Jui and succeeded as Prince (To Lo Pei Lę) Tuan 1860, prom. to To Lo Chün Wang February 1894. Adj-Gen. 1893, Dir. Imperial Clan Court 1893, Grand Chamberlain 1893-1894, Supt. Peking Field Force 1894, and "Tiger Spirit" Force 1894-1900, Joint Presdt. Brd. of Foreign Affairs 1900, Grand Councillor 1900, General and cdt. Marksmen for Tiger Hunts 1900, Leader of the Boxers. Deprived of all his honours for his part in the Boxer rebellion, 25th September 1900. Exiled to the New Dominion. m. a daughter of Kuei-Hsieng, brother of H.I.M. Empress Hsiao Chin. He d. at Kansu, 1922, having had issue, four sons, including:
- i) H.H. Prince (Ku Shan Pei Tzu) P'u-t'siun. b. 1875, educ. privately. Declared Heir Apparent to Tong-che, 24th January 1900. He had issue, one son:
- (1) H.H. Prince (Fęng Ęn Chęn Kuo Kung) Yü-ngan. b. 1893, educ. privately.
- ii) H.H. Prince (To Lo Pei Lę) P'u-chi. b. 1885, as P'u-chün. b. 1886, educ. privately. Adopted by Emperor Tong-chi and appointed as his Heir Apparent (Huang Tai Tzu) with the style of Ta-a-ko (Great Elder Brother) 24th January 1900 (rescinded by the Grand Empress Dowager Tze-hsi 30th November 1901). Banished to Urümch'i December 1901, renamed P'u-chi on 8th July 1904 and adopted as grandson of Prince Yi Mo. m. Lady (Fu Jen) Lo Shih, daughter of Prince A-la-shang-ch'i Lo Wang, and sister of H.E. T'a Wang, sometime Minister for Mongolian and Tibetan Affairs in the Nationalist government. He d. at the T'a Wang Mansion, Peking, 1929 (bur. Chia-hsin Temple, Peking), having had issue, one son:
- (1) H.H. Prince (Ku Shan Pei Tzu) Yü-wei [Yü Lan Feng]. He d. 19xx, having had issue, one son:
- (a) H.H. Prince (Fęng Ęn Chęn Kuo Kung) Lo Heng-lu.
- iii) The Noble (Chęn Kuo Chiang Chün) P'u-chuan. b. at Peking, 1918. He had issue, a son:

- c) Tsai-lan. Received his name on 11th January 1857, educ. privately. Granted the rank of Pu Ju Pa Fęn Fu Kuo Kung, but deprived of his titles for his part in the Boxer rebellion 1901. Banished to Urümch'i December 1901. He had issue, three sons:
- i) The Noble (Fu Kuo Chiang Chün) P'u-cho. b. 1882, educ. privately.
- ii) The Noble (Fu Kuo Chiang Chün) P'u-yęn. b. 1892, educ. privately.
- iii) The Noble (Fu Kuo Chiang Chün) P'u-hsin. b. 1893, educ. privately.
- d) Lieutenant-General H.E. Prince (Pu Ju Pa Fęn Fu Kuo Kung) Tsai-ying (=Zhai Ying). Received his name on 16th March 1859, educ. privately. Dep. Lieut-Gen. Bordered Blue Banner 1898, Senior Lieut-Gen. Peking Gendarmerie 1899-1900, Supt. of Livestock at Peking 1900-1905. He had issue, at least eight sons:
- i) H.H. Prince P'u-chin (=Pu Jin), 3rd Prince (Ku Shan Pei Tzu) Fu. b. 1893, educ. privately. Adopted by his cousin, Prince Fu (see below). Founder Mbr. Pine Breeze Painting Soc. 1925-1949. A distinguished painter, illustrator and calligrapher under the nom de plumes 'Hseuh-chai' (=Xue-zhai) and 'Songfeng Zhuren', Dean of the Coll. of Art, Fujen Catholic Univ. - v) The Noble (Fu Kuo Chiang Chün) P'u-chien (=Pu Xian) [P'u Hsueh-chai]. b. 1901, educ. privately. Mbr. Pine Breeze Breeze Painting Soc. A distinguished painter. A distinguished painter, illustrator and calligrapher under the nom de plume 'Songlin'. Painter National Gallery of the PRC, Peking; Lecturer Chinese Acad. of Painting; Presdt. Calligraphy Research Assoc., Vice-Presdt. Ku chin Research Assoc., etc. He d. 1966, having had issue:
- vi) The Noble (Fu Kuo Chiang Chün) P'u-hsien. b. ca. November 1901.
- vii) The Noble (Fu Kuo Chiang Chün) P'u-chuan (=Pu Quan). b. at Dongcheng, Peking, 1913, educ. privately. Mbr. Pine Breeze Painting Soc. 1928-1949, Hu Soc. Painting Assoc., Chinese Painting Research Soc. 1936-1949, New Chinese Painting Research Soc. 1949 (Sec. 1953-1956), Chinese Arts Assoc. 1956, Zhongyang Wwnshiguan 1985, etc. Teacher and Lecturer at the Dept. of Fine Arts, Fu Ren Catholic Univ. 1936-1943, Professor Peking National Art Sch. 1943-1952, Sec. to the Lieut-Col. cdg. 11th HQ 1945, and at the Beijing Art Acad. 1958-1966. A distinguished painter and caligrapher under the nom de plumes 'Sung-chuan' (Songchuang), 'Xuerxi' 'Yaoxian' and 'Jianzhai'. Author of "Landscape Painting Skill" (1990). m. at Peking, 1933, Ya Shuhe (d. at Peking, 1988). He d. at Peking, 1991, having had issue, one son and five daughters:

- viii) H.H. Prince (Ku Shan Pei Tzu) P'u-cho (=Pu Zuo). b. 1918. Raised to the title of Prince (Ku Shan Pei Tzu) with the style of His Highness, by Emperor Hsüan-t'ung. Mbr. Breeze Pine Painting Soc. 1937-1949. A distinguished painter, illustrator and calligrapher under the nom de plumes 'Songfang'. Vice-Dir. T'ien-ching Acad. 1945. He d. 2001.
- e) H.E. Prince (Pu Ju Pa Fęn Fu Kuo Kung) Tsai-ching. Received his name on 12th May 1859. He had issue, four sons:
- i) The Noble (Chęn Kuo Chiang Chün) P'u-shu.
- ii) The Noble (Fu Kuo Chiang Chün) P'u-pi.
- iii) The Noble (Fu Kuo Chiang Chün) P'u-chih.
- iv) The Noble (Fu Kuo Chiang Chün) P'u-hsiu.
- f) H.E. Prince (Pu Ju Pa Fęn Fu Kuo Kung) Tsai-hao. Received his name on 29th December 1860.
