1799 - 1820 H.I.M. Emperor Chia-ch'ing [Jen Tsung Jui Huang Ti] [Shou T'ien Hsing Yn Fu Hua Sui Y Ch'ung Wn Ching Wu Hsiao Kung Ch'in Chien Tuan Ming Ying Ch Jui], the Great Illustrious Emperor of the Great Ch'ing Dynasty, Son of Heaven, Lord of Myriad Years, etc c. b. at T 'ien-ti-i-chia Ch'un, Jehol, 13th November 1760, educ. Shang Shu-fang. Appointed as Heir Apparent with the title of Huang T'ai Tzu on 21st December 1773 (secret) and publicly invested 15th October 1795. Granted the title of Chia Ho Sh Ch'in Wang 1789. Invested with executive powers and raised to the title of Emperor at the T'ai-ho Tien, by his father, 9th February 1796. Succeeded on his father's death as supreme sovereign, 7th February 1799. m. fourteen wives, including (first) 1774, H.M. Empress Hsiao Shu-rui (d. 5th March 1797), raised to the title of Empress as Shu-rui Huang Hou 12th February 1796, and to the posthumous title of Hsiao Shu-rui Huang Hou 25th March 1797, daughter of Lieutenant-General Horchingo, Tch'eng-ngen-kong, of the Sitala clan, sometime Presdt. Imperial Domestic Court. m. (second) H.M. Dowager Empress Hsiao Ho-rui (b. 1776; d. 23rd January 1850, bur. Ch'ang-ling Mausoleum, Hebei), granted the rank of Kuei Fei 12th February 1796, prom. to Huang Kuei Fei 14th June 1797, to Empress as Ho-rui Huang Hou 25th May 1799, Empress Dowager as Ho-rui Huang T'ai Hou 4th September 1820, and to the posthumous title of Hsiao Ho-rui Huang T'ai Hou 16th February 1850, a sister of Kungala, 1st Marquis Ho-shih-tai, of the Niuhuru clan. m. (a) a daughter of H.E. Kyi To Lo Ye, sometime Ambassador to Burma. He d. at the Imperial Summer Palace, Jehol, 2nd September 1820 (bur. Ch'ang-ling Mausoleum, Hebei), having had issue, five sons and nine daughters, including:
