Modification & Basic Component Identifier's.

Are you tring to make a modification to a CB radio with limited knowlage ???

You should know some basic electronics.

" Having said that "--------it all depends on what you want the radio to do.

Some things you peek.
Some things you clip.
Some things you jump.
Some things you calibrate.
Some things you allow more current to flow.
Some things you limit the current.
Some times you replace some parts with higher performance parts.

It's all in the name "MOD". You are modifing an existing circuit, to attempt to make it operate other than the way it was intended.

These symbals are basic component identifier's :::

L=coils (either fixed or varable) For mods their usualy varable -but not always.
T=transformer (tranformer are sometime's coils) either fixed or varable, the varable kinds are the same as "L" just depends on who made the thing.
D=diodes
Q= transistors / or mosfets..
R=Resistors
VR= varable resistors
C=Capacitors
VC=varable capacitor
IC=intergrated circuits (little black boxes with alot of pins)
X= crystals
XF=crystal filters
TP= Test Point

The number after them is the circuit location.. example L-6 is the #6 coil in the circuit, if you look at the circuit board you should find ( usualy white ) letters to identify the part.

So to find it, look at the coils (little silver boxes with a screwdriver adjustment,, (Hint don't use a metel screw driver to adust. must be non-conductive). Radio Shack sells TV alignment tool set aprox around $ 3.00 there plastic and made for this.

So you look @ the board if you find L-5 then L-6 should be nearby, ( not always)
