Half Duplex---- (
A mode of communication in which a user transmits at one time and receives at another time.

Half-wave dipole---- (
The basic antenna consisting of a length of wire or tubing,
open and fed at the center. The entire antenna is ½ wavelength long at the desired operating frequency.

Ham---- (
An amateur radio operator.
)
Ham Band---- (
A range of frequencies on which amateur communications are authorized.

Ham-Bands-only receiver---- (
A receiver designed to cover only the bands used by amateurs. Usually refers to the bands from
80 to 10 meters, sometimes including 160 meters.

Ham Radio---- (
Another name for Amateur Radio.
)
Ham Radio Operator---- (
A person holding a written authorization to operate an amateur station. An Amateur Radio Operator.

Hamster---- (
Ham operator on CB frequency or one who "hams" on CB.

Hand-held---- (
A small, lightweight portable transceiver small enough to be carried easily; Also called

Handle---- (
A CB users callsign and/or nickname (Usage differs between SSB-DX-AM).

Hang Time---- (
The short period following a transmission that allows others who want to access the repeater a chance to do so; A
"courtesy beep" sounds when the repeater is ready to accept another transmission.

Harmful Interference---- (
Interference which endangers the functioning of a radionavigation
service or of other safety services or seriously degrades, obstructs or repeatedly interrupts a
radicommunication service operating i accordance with the Radio Regulations.

Harmonic---- (
Multiple of a fundamental frequency; A signal occurring at some integral multiple (such as two, three,
four) of a "fundamental" frequency.

Harmonics---- (
Signals at exact multiples of the operating (or "fundamental") frequency (2x, 3x, 4x, etc.).

HDLC---- (
High-level data link control procedures as specified in ISO 3309.

Health and Welfare traffic---- (
Messages about the well being of individuals in a disaster area. Such messages must wait for "Emergency and Priority traffic"
to clear, and results is advisories to those outside the disaster area awaiting news from family and friends.

"The copyright issue is a sticky one for Web site owners and their employees, particularly contractors.
Currently in the United States, there are no laws that specifically address copyright issues in the online world.
However, the U.S. courts have ruled that existing copyright laws governing the print world can be applied to the online world."
