TOMMYBLUE43 - HOME AT LAST!
Hello, my name is Tommy and I live in Southeast Texas.
I am dedicating this page to all cancer patients and to my son,
Larry Joe, who was hit by a truck and killed at the age of 16.
I am 59 years old, married to my wife Barbara for 22 years. I was
diagnosed with asbestos about 4-1/2 years ago. I became disabled
in 1977 from an auto accident, my neck was broken. I am the father
of 8 children, six boys and two girls.
I am a Viet Nam Veteran, having spent 4 years in the U.S. Navy.
I am a Master Mason with Pine Forest Lodge 1420 and a lifetime member
of the Disabled Veterans of America. I am also a lifetime member
of the Paralyzed Veterans of America. My hobbies are: fishing,
hunting and playing Postman on AOL.
I hope to give encouragement to all the patients that have been
diagnosed with cancer. I am a 10 year survivor. I was diagnosed
with throat cancer in May of 1988 and again in the left side
of my neck in September of 1989. I had a complete neck dissection
including removal of the main vein. I received 35 radiation
treatments at M. D. Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas. Half of
my larynx (voice box) was removed. In the first operation in 1996,
I had a major heart attack and due to radiation the doctors could
not operate to do bypass surgery. They elected to do the arteriogram
and put a stentz in my heart at St. Elizabeth Hospital in
Beaumont, Texas.
Today, by the grace of our God, I am still walking and talking.
I still have to go back for regular check-ups and take a lot of
medication, but so far I am still cancer-free. I would like to
thank all of the doctors and nurses that helped me through all
of this; and a special thanks to my wife Barbara for taking care
of me through all of these years. The Veterans Hospital in Houston
did the surgeries, but I chose to go to M. D. Anderson Cancer
Center in Houston,Texas, for the radiation.
Dr. Randy Lombardo from Beaumont, Texas, did my heart surgery and I
want to thank him for saving my life and the fine emergency room they
have at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, Texas. I also would like
to thank Dr. Clayman and Dr. Hill, both are Cancer Specialists at
M. D. Anderson Hospital in Houston. They are responsible for keeping
me alive and going. I have quite a few disabilities and pain,
but God willing, I will be here a little longer. During my time
of need, there were a lot of people praying for me in several states.
You don't need to ask me if there is a God, or if there is such
a thing called the power of prayer. My friend I will be the first to
tell you...prayer works!

Making Cancer History Website

I have often wondered why God has kept me
alive. I even thought it was punishment, but our Bibles
tell us different. Today I think I know at least one
reason why. Three years ago, my wife tried to persuade
me to use the computer. It was not of interest to
me. Some time later my collarbone was broken and would
not heal because of the radiation treatments; needless
to say, it is very painful and I have lost quite a bit
of usage of that arm. It gets tiresome at times to ask
my stepchildren to do things for me such as work on a
car, or change a flat, anyway, you get the idea.

One night I finally got enough courage to sign on and
somehow found the Fabulous Fifties Room and started
talking to a fine lady by the screen name of Angel6713
and I have not stopped since. I should be called the
mailman (LOL), because I spend most of my time in the
mailroom searching and sending out angel sites and I
dearly love it. I am blessed to have many on-line
angel friends. I hope you enjoy this site.

It took a while for me to decide to have a web page,
after receiving so many beautiful letters from sending
out the angel sites and poems. I cannot quit. When
the pain is bad, I just thank God for my friends,
lay down for a while then come back and take the
computer from my wonderful wife. (LOL)

I believe this is why God has allowed me to live.
If you could read some of my mail, I think you would
understand. My thanks to God and everyone for visiting
this site. Take time today and tell someone you love
them. I know God loves us all. I would also like to
give a special thanks to the wonderful people that
have allowed me to use a link to their sites as my
favorite places to visit.

TO MY AOL FRIENDS

I have a list of folks I know,
all written in a book...
and every now and then
I go and take a look.
That is when I realize
these names they are a part
not of the book they're written in...
but taken from the heart.
For each name stands for someone
who has crossed my path sometime
and in that meeting they have become
the reason and the rhyme.
Although it sounds fantastic
for me to make this claim
I really am composed of
each remembered name.
Although you're not aware of
any special link
just meeting you has shaped my life...
more than you could think.
So please don't think my greetings
as just a mere routine...
your name was NOT...
forgotten in between.
For when I send a greeting
that is addressed to you
it's because you're on that list
of folks I'm indebted to.
Whether I have known you
for many days or a few...
in some ways you have a part,
in shaping things I do.
I am but a total...
of many folks I've met,
you are one I would prefer
never to forget.
Thank you
for being my friend

TOMMY FROM TEXAS

I have a precious friend, Tommy is his name
I met him on the internet and I am so glad
He shares his love of Jesus helps all that he can
He tries to bring a smile to the face of those so sad
Tommy cannot do the things, he used to do
His heart is weakened from so much
But he serves his Jesus on the net
View his pages and your heart he'll touch
Tommy lives in Texas and he loves the Alamo
Shares space with the armadillos and longhorns
His favorite flower, the bluebonnets
And he loves to see them on the farm
They also dot the roadsides, growing wild you see
They complement the pale blue sky above
His favorite team...The Dallas Cowboys
To see them win...is something Tommy loves
That is his pastime when he isn't doing mail
He is an online mailman and he does it well.
Jesus is his special friend and His love Tommy knows
He shares the bible daily to keep folks out of hell
Tommy is very patriotic "Don't Mess with Texas" his theme
It is his belief in God that keeps him on the go
He served his country in the Navy
Though now his health has faltered so
He is still proud of his country, the flag he proudly flies
Yes, it is his belief in God that keeps him on the go
The yellow rose of Texas is a special flower to him
But the words he holds so dear is Todd Beamer's "Let's Roll!"
This has been written exclusively for my friend, Tommy
