GENEALOGY

• 1) 'Usman Agha. b. at Adrianople. He d. at Kavala, Macedonia, having had issue, three sons:

    • (1) Captain Khalil Agha. Sometime Capt. of Irregulars (Volunteers), who served in Egypt and was succeeded in his post by his first cousin, Muhammad 'Ali Pasha. He d. at Kavala.
  • ii) Ibrahim Agha. A former tobacco merchant and cdr. of irregulars (Yol Agassi), sometime cdt. of the fortress guarding Kavala Pass. m. (first) Khadria Khanum, daughter of the Governor of Kavala. m. (second) Zainab Khanum, daughter of Husain Agha, Çorbaci (Military Cdr) of Kavala. He d. at Kavala, before 30^th August 1791 (bur. there), having had issue, thirteen sons and five daughters, most of whom died young, including:
    • (1) Tusun Agha. Ancester of the Yeghen family. He d. before 25th November 1826 (bur. Imam al-Shafi'i Cemetery, Cairo), having had issue:
      • (a) Lieutenant-General H.E. Tusun 'Ali Pasha. b. at Kavala, Macedonia, 1793. Cdr. Egyptian forces in Sennar 1821-1824. Raised to the rank of Mîrmîran Pasha 8^th September 1824, prom. beylerbeyi rütbesi 1830. He was k. 1830 (bur. Imam al-Shafi'i Cemetery, Cairo).
    • (2) H.H. Muhammad 'Ali Pasha, Vali of Egypt, etc. (s/o Zainab) - see below.
    • (3) A daughter, who m. and had issue, a son:
      • (a) Tahir Pasha. (Muhammad 'Ali's sister's son). Raised to the title of Mîrmîran Pasha before 1806. Assisted his uncle in defeating the mamluks and attaining power. Supervisor of Customs at Buluq, and Superviser of Taverns. He d. at Alexandria, April 1818 (bur. al-Siba, Cairo), having had issue, a son:
        • (i) Lieutenant-General H.E. (Sahib us-Sa'ada) Ahmad Pasha Tahir. b. at Kavala, Macedonia. Raised to the title of Mîrmîran Pasha, March 1819. Governor of Upper Egypt 1820-1834. m. Khadija Khanum. He d. ca. 1850.
    • (4) A daughter. m. Ahmad Bey, sometime ADC to Sultan Muhammad II of Turkey.

      • (a) H.E. (Sahib us-Sa'ada) Ismail Pasha. b. 1818. Governor of Aleppo 1840.
    • (6) xxx, who m. and had issue:
      • (a) Husain Bey. b. 1798. He d. after 1840.
    • (7) Zubaida Khanum. m. Miralai Mustafa Bey (d. at Alexandria, 13^th May 1816 (bur. Imam al-Shafi'i Cemetery, Cairo), a former cheese and tobacco trader, Governor of al-Sharqiya 1809-1811, Cdr. of the Dalat troops (Dali Basha?) 1811-1816, brother of Amina Khanum, princiapl wife of Muhammad 'Ali Pasha, and son of 'Ali Agha, sometime Bimbashi of Nusretli. She d. before 25^th November 1826 (bur. Imam al-Shafi'i Cemetery, Cairo), having had issue, at least three sons - see Yeghen.
    • (8) Zohra Pasha (a sister of Muhammad 'Ali). m. …She d. 1825 (bur. Imam al-Shafi'i Cemetery, Cairo), having had issue, a daughter:
      • (a) Kulsum [Gulsun] Khanum. m. as his first wife (div. 185x) H.E. (Sahib ul-Ma'ali) Muhammad Sabit Pasha (b. 1820; d. 1901), Private Sec. to Muhammad 'Ali the Great 1847-1848, Minister for Justice 1878, Charitable Endowments, Education and the Interior 1884, Khedevial Envoy at Istanbul 1881-1882, Presdt. Privy Cncl. 1884-1901, a younger son of the Circassian Chief of the Nahoush. She had issue, four sons:
        • (i) (Sahib ul-Izza) Khalil Sabit Bey. m. Tawhida Khanum, daughter of Lieutenant-General H.E. (Sahib us-Sa'ada) Ahmad Shukri Yeghen Pasha, sometime C-in-C (Saraskar) Egyptian Forces in the Hijaz, Governor of Jeddah and Mecca.
        • (ii) (Sahib ul-Izza) Jamil Sabit Bey. m. Fatima Ra'afat Khanum, daughter of (Sahib ul-Izza) Ibrahim Ahmad Nayer Yeghen Bey. He had issue, two sons:
          • 1. (Sahib ul-Izza) Ahmad Sabit Bey.
          • 2. (Sahib ul-Izza) Muhsin Sabit Bey. b. 10^th July 1903. m. 9^th March 1932, Sajuda [Sutouda] Khanum (b. at Cairo, Egypt, 22^nd May 1908 (or 1918); d. 26^th May 1973), youngest daughter of (Sahib ul-Izza) 'Ali Riza Yeghen Bey, by his wife, Nimat Khanum, eldest daughter of his uncle, H.E. (Sahib us-Sa'ada) Saleh Rushdi Yeghen Pasha. He d. 1^st September 1971.
        • (iii) H.E. (Sahib us-Sa'ada) Saleh Sabit Pasha. He d. 1918.
        • (iv) (Sahib ul-Izza) Aziz Sabit Bey.
• iii) Mustafa Agha. He remained at Adrianople and did not move to Kavala with his brothers.
