Amir al-Mumenin Amanu’llah Shah, Sarkar-i-Wala, King of the God granted Kingdom of Afghanistan and its dependencies, Royal Victorian Chain (13.3.1928). b. at Paghman, 1^st June 1892, third son of H.M. Sirajul-millat wa ud-din, Amir al-Mumenin Habibu’llah Shah, Sarkar-i-Wala, King of Afghanistan, GCB, GCMG, by his third wife, H.M. Queen Sarwar Sultana Begum, the Aliya Hazrat, Siraj ul-Khwatin, eldest daughter of Loinab Sher Dil Khan Shaghasi, educ. Harbiya Military Sch, Bagh-i-Charmgarh, Kabul. Styled 'Ayn ud-Daula before his accession. Governor of Kabul 1917-1919. Displaced his elder brother and ascended the throne after the assassination of his father, 20^th February 1919. Installed at Kabul, 27^th February 1919. Proclaimed the total independence of his country, 13^th April 1919 hastening the Third Afghan War. Recognised by Britain in the Anglo-Afghan Treaty (Treaty of Kabul) 22^nd November 1921. Abolished slavery by decree in 1921. Assumed the style of Padshah 9^th June 1926. Abdicated 14^th January 1929, renewed his rights to the throne after his brother's abdication on 17^th January 1929, but was forced to leave the country and went into exile in Italy, 23^rd May 1929. Military High Sch, Rome, the Regia Accademia Militare di Fanteria e Cavalleria, Modena, and La Sapienza Univ of Rome, Italy. Proclaimed as Heir Apparent with the title of Crown Prince, at the Loi Jirga held at Paghman, 28^th August 1928. Cmsnd as 2^nd-Lieut Royal Italian Army 1940, served in WW2 1940-1945. Lecturer in the dept of Geography and Political Science at the Univ of Rome, and later Dir of a private secondary school. m. H.R.H. Federation of Afghan Refugee Organizations in Europe (FORE). Author of "Le voyage d'Amân Ullah Roi d'Afghanistan" (2005). m. 27^th July 1958, H.R.H. 6) Hamida Begum. b. June 1920 (d/o Khairiya). m. 1954, as his first wife (div. 1956), 'Abdu’llah Habib Khan Tarzi, LVO, eldest son of H.E. Habibu’llah Khan Tarzi, sometime Ambassador to the USA, by his wife, Shaira Begum, second daughter of Naib Habibu’llah Beg Tarzi. She had issue, one son - see Afghanistan (Tarzi).

7) Latifa Begum [Latifa Jan]. b. 17^th January 1923 (d/o Khairiya). Became the first female radio announcer in Afghanistan 1947. m. 20^th June 1949, 'Abdu’l Kabir Khan Siraj (b. 10^th August 1925), third son of H.R.H Sardar Muhammad Kabir Khan [Kabir Jan], by his first wife, Samia Begum, eldest daughter of Naib Habibu’llah Beg Tarzi.
