1747 - 1748 H.M. Zill-u'llah Hast Sultan bar Salatin-i-Jahan Shah-i-Shahhan Adil Shah, Shahanshah of Persia. b. 1719, as 'Ali Quli Khan, educ. privately. Governor of Mashhad 1737-1747. Seized the throne on the death of Nadir Shah and proclaimed himself as ruler with the name of Adil Shah, June 1747. Crowned at Mashhad, 5th July 1747. Deposed, blinded and imprisoned by his brother Ibrahim Shah, ca. 23rd September 1748. m. several wives, including (a) at Mashhad, 1737, H.R.H. Princess Kethevan, eldest daughter of H.M Theimuraz II, King of Kartli and Kakheti, by his second wife, H.M. Thamar II, Queen of Georgia, daughter of H.M. Vakhtang VI, King of Kartli. m. (b) at the Palace, Bokhara, October 1740, the younger daughter of Sayyid Abu'l Faiz Muhammad Shah, Khan at Bokhara. m. (c) Zainab un-nisa Begum (m. second, after 1749, her cousin, Mirza Muhammad Sadiq al-Husaini al-Marashi; and d. at Mashhad, 1753), fifth daughter of Mirza Muhammad 'Ali al-Husaini al-Marashi, Governor of Qazvin. 1748 - 1749 H.M. Zill-u'llah Hast Sultan bar Salatin-i-Jahan Shah-i-Shahhan Ibrahim Shah, Sahib-i-Qiran, Shahanshah of Persia. b. ca. 1724, as Muhammad 'Ali Beg-e Afshar, educ. privately. Granted the name of Ibrahim Khan after the death of his father, 1739. Governor of Isfahan 1747-1748. Seized the throne from his brother Adil Shah, whom he deposed, blinded and imprisoned, 23rd September 1748. Crowned at Tabriz, 8th December 1748. Deposed by Shahrukh Shah, May 1749. 1748-1749 and 1796 H.M. Zill-u'llah Hast Sultan bar Salatin-i-Jahan Shah-i-Shahhan Shah-i-Jahan Shahrukh Shah, Sahib-i-Qiran, Shahanshah of Persia. b. at Isfahan, 21st March 1734, educ. privately. Crowned at Mashhad, 1st October 1748. Briefly deposed and blinded by Sayyid Muhammad Husayni, 17th December 1749 but was restored after just 40 days, 26th January 1750 and ruled at Khorasan. Enthroned again at Mashhad under the protection of Ahmad Shah Durrani of Afghanistan, 9th May 1755. Deposed by 'Agha Muhammad Shah Qajar, 14th May 1796. m. (first) a daughter of Kasim Khan-e Afshar, by his wife, Gauhar un-nisa, daughter of Muhammad. m. (second) a daughter of Faridun Khan-e Gurj, a Georgian. He d. at Damghan, from the effects of having a molten crown placed on his head by torturers appointed by 'Agha Muhammad Shah Qajar, after May 1796, having had issue, seven sons and eight daughters:
