1929 - 1932 Field Marshal H.H. Svasti Sri Madati Prachandra Bhujadandyetyadi Ati-Projjwala-Nepal-Taradisha Sri Sri Sri Maharaja Bhim Shumshere Jang Bahadur Rana, T'ung-ling-ping-ma-Kuo-Kang-wang, Maharaja of Lambjang and Kaski, GCSI (1.1.1931, KCSI 1.1.1917), GCMG (22.12.1931), KCVO (24.12.1911). b. at Katmandu, 16th April 1865, sixth son of Commanding-General H.E. Dhir Shumshere Jung Rana Bahadur, by his third wife, educ. Durbar High Sch. Katmandu. Lt-Col. 1868, prom. Col 1879, Cdng-Gen. Northern Cmnd. 1885-87, Eastern Cmnd. 1887-1901, Snr. Cdng-Gen. Western Cmnd. & Chief of Army Staff 1901-1907, Mukhtiyar and C-in-C 1907-1929. Succeeded his brother as Prime Minister, Supreme C-in-C of the Nepalese Army and Maharaja of Lambjang and Kaski, at Singha Durbar, Katmandu, 26th November 1929. Served as ADC to the King-Emperor George V during his visit to Nepal in December 1911. Hon. Maj-Gen. British Army 4/4/1930. Hon. Col. 4th Prince of Wales's Gurkha Rifles, IA 4/4/1930. Hon. Gen. Chinese Army 23/2/1932. Grand Master of the Most Refulgent Order of the Star of Nepal 1929-1932. Introduced a number of innovations and reforms, including week-end holidays, a Land Refom Commission to protect tenant farmers, abolished duties on cotton and salt, ended the pasture tax, and abolshed capital punishment. He also built several district hospitals and extended the drinking water pipelines in Eastern Nepal. Rcvd: Delhi Durbar medal (1911), and the Order of the Sacred Tripod ePao Tingí 1st class (23.2.1932) of China. m. (first) 1886, H.H. Sri Sri Sri Bada Maharani (d. at Singha Durbar, Katmandu, 9th October 1936). m. (second) H.H. Sri Sri Sri Sita Bada Maharani Dil Kumari Rajya Lakshmi. m. (a) Gunjan [Gunjen] Maharani, a former dancer. He d. at Singha Durbar, Katmandu, 1st September 1932, having had issue, six sons and three daughters:
