Svasti Sri Madati Prachandra Bhujadandyetyadi Ati-Projjwala-Nepal-Taradisha Sri Sri Sri Maharaja Bhim Shumshere Jang Bahadur Rana, T'ung-ling-ping-ma-Kuo-Kang-wang, Maharaja of Lambjang and Kaski, GCSI (1.1.1931, KCSI 1.1.1917), GCMG (22.12.1931), KCVO (24.12.1911). b. at Katmandu, 16^th April 1865, sixth son of Commanding-General H.E. Dhir Shumshere Jung Rana Bahadur, by his third wife, educ. Durbar High Sch. Katmandu. Lt-Col. 1868, prom. Col 1879, Cdng-Gen. Northern Cmnd. 1885-87, Eastern Cmnd. 1887-1901, Snr. Cdng-Gen. Western Cmnd. & Chief of Army Staff 1901-1907, Mukhtiyar and C-in-C 1907-1929. Succeeded his brother as Prime Minister, Supreme C-in-C of the Nepalese Army and Maharaja of Lambjang and Kaski, at Singha Durbar, Katmandu, 26^th November 1929. Served as ADC to the King-Emperor George V during his visit to Nepal in December 1911. Hon. Maj-Gen. British Army 4/4/1930. Hon. Col. 4^th Prince of Wales's Gurkha Rifles, IA 4/4/1930. Hon. Gen. Chinese Army 23/2/1932. Grand Master of the Most Refulgent Order of the Star of Nepal 1929-1932. Introduced a number of innovations and reforms, including week-end holidays, a Land Refom Commission to protect tenant farmers, abolished duties on cotton and salt, ended the pasture tax, and abolshed capital punishment. He also built several district hospitals and extended the drinking water pipelines in Eastern Nepal. Sri Sri Sri Bada Maharani (d. at Singha Durbar, Katmandu, 9^th October 1936). m. (second) H.H. Sri Sri Sri Sita Bada Maharani Dil Kumari Rajya Lakshmi. m. (a) Gunjan [Gunjen] Maharani, a former dancer. He d. at Singha Durbar, Katmandu, 1^st September 1932, having had issue, six sons and three daughters:

(first) Sri Rani Som Kumari Rajya Lakshmi. m. (second) Sri Rani Lalita Rajya Lakshmi. He had issue, one son and five daughters:
- a) Major-General Maha-Gaurabmaya-Tejaswi-Tribhuvan-Prajatantra-Shripada The Rt Hon. Subarna Shumshere Jang Bahadur Rana, GCVO (17.11.1960). b. at Katmandu, 1910 (c), educ. Calcutta Univ. (MA). Apptd. Maj-Gen. Rifle Paltan 1931, deported to India for seditious activities 1933-1937, Governor of Birganj 1937-1944 & 1944-1946, Mbr. Constitutional Reform Cttee. 1945-1947, deported again 1947-1948, Treasurer Nepali Democratic Congress Party 1947-1949, C-in-C Mukti Sena Army of Liberation 1950, Minister for Finance 1951-1953 and 1958-1960, Prime Minister and Minister for Planning 1958-1959, Dep. Sri Rani Siniti Rajya Lakshmi (b. 16^th September 1932), née Shrimant Rajkumari Suniti Raje Bhonsle, youngest daughter of Major H.H. Raja Shrimant Sir Khem Sawant V Bhonsle Bahadur [Bapu Sahib], Sir Desai of Sawantwadi, KCSI, by his wife, H.H. Shrimant Akhand Soubhagyavati Rani Parvatidevi Raje Bhonsle, sometime Rani Regent of Savantwadi, younger daughter of Lieutenant-Colonel Shrimant Yuvaraj Fatehsinhrao Gaekwad, Yuvaraj Sahib of Baroda.
