1724 - 1776 H.M. Great King [Kwang-suk] Yong-jo Chi-haeng Sun-dok Yong-mo Ui-yol Chang-hui Hong-non Kwang-in Ton-hui Ch'e-ch'on Kon-guk Song-gong Sin-hwa T'ae-song Kwan-gun Kae-t'ae Ki-yong Yom-yong Sun-ch'ol Kon-gon Kon-nyong [Hyon-hyo or Chihyong T'ae-wang], King of Korea.  b. at the Kyongch'un-jon, Ch'anggyong-won, Seoul, 12th October 1694, as Yi Kum, fourth son of Great King Suk-jong [Hyon-ui], by his fourth wife, Lady Ch'oe, the Suk-bin, educ. privately. Raised to the title of Prince Yon-ing (Yon-ing-gun), in his youth. Appointed as Heir Presumptive (Wang-se-son) by his elder half-brother, 1721. Succeeded on his death, 6th October 1724. Presided over a brilliant period of reforms during the first part of his reign. Assumed the titles of Chi-haeng (perfect action) Sun-dok (purest virtue) Yong-mo (glorious plain) Ui-yol (resolute valour) Chang-hui (manifest righteousness) Hong-non (profound principal) Kwang-in (true blessing) and Ton-hui (shining principal), Ch'e-ch'on (heavenly substance), Kon-guk (ultimate establishment) Song-gong (sagacious merit) and Sin-hwa (divine influence) in 1756, T'ae-song (…) Kwan-gun (..) Kae-t'ae (great opening) and Ki-yong (permanent foundation) in 1772, and Yom-yong (brilliance of Yao) Sun-ch'ol (wisdom of Shun) Kon'-gon (strength of heavan) and Kon-nyong (peace on earch) on 14th March 1776. m. (first) Lady Yi, the Chong-bin (b. 1694; d. 16th November 1721, bur. Won'gil-won, P'aju). m. (second) 1759, H.M. Queen So [Chong-song Wang-hu] (b. 12th January 1693; d.s.p. at the Kwanhihap Palace, Seoul, 3rd April 1757, bur. Hong-nung, Koyang). m. (third) Lady Yi, the Yong-bin [Son-hui Ui-yol] (b. 18th July 1696; d. 26th July 1764, bur. Wan'gyong-won, So-o-nung), raised to the posthumous title of Ui-yol (shining righteousness). m. (fourth) 1751, Lady Mun, the So-ui, sister of Mun Song-guk, Sayak. m. (fifth) 1759, H.M. Queen Kim [Chong-sun Wang-hu] (b. at Suhsan, Ch'ungch'ong Province, 3rd December 1745; d.s.p. 11th February 1805, bur. Won-nung, Yangju), Senior Great Queen Regent for her grandson as T'ae-wang T'ae-bi 1800-1805, raised to the posthumous title of Chong-sun Wang-hu, daughter of H.E. Kim Han-ku, Prince Ohung. He d. at the Ch'angui Palace, Seoul, 22nd April 1776 (bur. Won-nung, Yangju), had issue, two sons and twelve daughters, all by concubines:

1776 - 1800 H.M. Great King Chong-jo [Chang-hyo Mun-song T'ae-wang], King of Korea. b. 28th October 1752, as Yi Sun, second son of King Chang-jo, by his first wife, Queen Hong Hye-gyong-gong, educ. privately. Granted the title of Prince Hyong (Hyong-gun). Appointed as Crown Prince (Wang-se-ja), September 1762. Appointed as the adopted son of his late uncle, King Chin-jong Ou-yang in 1764. Appointed as Regent by his incapacitated grandfather in January 1776. Proclaimed on his death, 27th April 1776. Korea suffered from several major natural disasters during his reign, including floods, fires, drought and famine. Began the persecution of Christians in 1791. m. (first) Lady Song, the Ui-bin (b. 8th July 1753; d. at Seoul, 1789, bur. Uibin-myo, So-sam-nung, Koyang). m. (second) at Seoul, 2nd February 1762, H.M Queen Kim [Hyo-ic-ui Wang-hu] (b. 5th January 1754; d.s.p. at Seoul, 10th April 1821, bur. Kon-nung, Suwon), daughter of Kim Si-muk, Vice-Minister. m. (third) Lady Yun, the Hwa-bin (b. 2nd April 1765; d.s.p. 1825, bur. Hwabin-myo, So-sam-nung, Koyang). m. (fourth) at Seoul, June 1778, Lady Hong, the Won-bin (d.s.p. and bur. Wonbin-myo, So-sam-nung, Koyang), daughter of Hong Kuk-yung. m. (fifth) Lady Pak, the Su-bin (b. 8th May 1770; d. at Seoul, 26th December 1822, bur. Hwigyong-won). He d. at Seoul, 18th August 1800 (bur. Kon-nung, Suwon), having had issue, three sons and one daughter, all by lesser wives:

1800 - 1834 H.M. Great King Sun-jo [Song-hyo Yon-dok T'ae-wang], King of Korea. b. 27th July 1790, as Yi Kwang, educ. privately. Styled Prince Kong-bo (Kong-bo-gun), before his accession. Appointed as Crown Prince (Wang-se-ja) on the death of his elder brother in 1786. Succeeded on the death of his father, 18th August 1800. Crowned 24th August 1800. Reigned under the Regency of Great Dowager Queen Kim Chong-sun. m. (first) H.M. Queen Shin Chun-gik. m. (second) at Seoul, 1802, H.M. Queen Kim [Sun-won Wang-hu] (b. 9th June 1789; d. at Seoul, 1st October 1857, bur. In-nung, Kwangju), raised to the rank of Great Queen Regent as Wang T'ae-bi 1834, Senior Great Queen Regent as T'ae-wang T'ae-bi and received the posthumous title of Sun-won Wang-hu, daughter of H.E. Kim Cho-sun, of Andong, Regent 1839-1846 and Sec. to King Chong-jo, a Catholic convert. m. (third) Lady Pak, the Suk-ui (d. at Seoul, 1854). He d. at Seoul, 13th December 1834 (bur. In-nung, Kwangju), having had issue, two sons and four daughters:

1834 - 1849 H.M. Great King Hon-jong [Ch'ul-hyo Ch'e-gon T'ae-wang], King of Korea. b. at the Kyongch'un-jon, Ch'anggyong-won, Seoul, 8th September 1827, as Yi Hwan, educ. privately. Appointed as Heir Presumptive with the title of Wang-se-son 1827 and styled Grand Prince Mu-nung (Mu-nung T'ae- gun), before his accession. Succeeded on the death of his grandfather 13th December 1834. Crowned 19th December 1834. m. (first) at Seoul, 1837, H.M. Queen Kim [Hyo-hyon Wang-hu] (b. 27th April 1828; d.s.p. at Seoul, 18th October 1843, bur. Kyong-nung, Yangju), of Andong, raised to the rank of Queen as Hyo-hyon-bi 1837. m. (second) at Seoul, 1844, H.M. Queen Hong [Hyo-jong Wang-hu] (b. at Hamyul, Chulla, 7th March 1831; d.s.p. at Seoul, 17th February 1904, bur. Kyong-nung, Yangju), raised to the rank of Queen as Hyo-jong-bi 1844, prom. to Great Queen as T'ae-bi 1849, Great Queen Regent as Wang T'ae-bi 1857, and granted the titles of Ui-hen 18th July 1892, and Myung-hon T'ae-hu 14th October 1897, daughter of H.E. Hong, Prince Cha-yong (Cha-yong Pu-won-gun), Minister of the Royal Court. m. (third) at Seoul, 1846, Lady Kim, the Kyong-bin (b. 27th August 1832; d.s.p. at Nakson-jae, Ch'angduk Palace, Seoul, 1908, bur. Kyongbin-myo, So-sam-nung, Koyang). m. (fourth) Lady Kim, Hwarak-dang Suk-ui (b. 10th January 1813; d. at the Hwarak-dang, Ch'angdok, Palace, Seoul, 12th November 1886, bur. Sukui-myo, So-sam-nung, Koyang). He d.s.p.m. at Seoul, 25th July 1849 (bur. Kyong-nung, Yangju), having had issue, an only daughter:

1849 - 1864 H.M. Great King Ch'ol-jong [Yong-hyo Hui-lyun T'ae-wang], King of Korea. b. at Kanghwa, 25th July 1831, as Yi Chung, youngest son of H.R.H. Prince Chon'gye, by his concubine, Lady Yom, educ. privately. Styled Prince To-sung (To-sung-gun) before his accession. He was selected to succeed three days after the death of his predecessor, adopted and given the personal name of Yi Won-bom, 28th July 1849. m. (first) at Seoul, 1851, H.M. Queen Kim [Ch'ol-lin Wang-hu] (b. at Andong, 27th April 1837; d. at Seoul, 29th June 1878, bur. Ye-nung, Koyang), raised to the posthumous title of Ch'ol-lin Wang-hu, and granted the honorifc of Eui-Hén 18th July 1892, daughter of H.E. Kim Mun-gun, of Andong. m. (second) Lady Pak, Kwi-in (bur. Kwiin-myo, So-sam-nung, Koyang). m. (third) Lady Cho, Kwi-in (bur. Kwiin-myo, So-sam-nung, Koyang). m. (fourth) Lady Yi. m. (fifth) Lady Pang, Kwi-in (bur. Kwiin-myo, So-sam-nung, Koyang). m. (sixth) Lady Kim, Kwi-in (bur. Kwiin-myo, So-sam-nung, Koyang). m. (eighth) Lady Pom, the Suk-ui (b. 15th July 1838; d. at the Pomsugi-kung, Seoul, 26th December 1883, bur. Sukui-myo, So-sam-nung, Koyang). He d. at the T'ae-jo-jon, Ch'angdok, Palace, Seoul, 16th January 1864 (bur. Ye-nung, Koyang) (succ. by the posthumously adopted son of King Ik-jong), having had issue, five sons and six daughters, of whom only one daughter survived:
