territory after the suppression of the rebellion.
Placed under restraint, but escaped to Western
Karenni and began a new rebellion, February 1867.
Defeated and fled to British Burma, where he was
again arrested, August 1868. Exiled to Port
Blair, then to Bhagalpore, later to Fort Chanar,
and finally to Benares. Fled to French territory
at Chandernagore 1882, to Pondicherry 1884, and
to Saigon 1889. m. (first) 1858, his first
