Arjumand wa Daneshmand Sardar Haji Ghulam Muhammad Khan. b. at Kandahar, 30th April 1830, third son of H.E. Sardar Rahim Dil Khan, sometime Governor of Sind and of Baluchistan, by his wife, Hawa Begum, daughter of Sardar Rahim Dad Khan, Sultan Muhammad Barakzai  - see Afghanistan (Barakzai), educ. privately. Entered service under Dost Muhammad Khan, who granted him the title of Arjumand wa Daneshmand ('the highly esteemed and honourable scholar). Forced into exile in December 1881. A noted calligrapher and poet under the name of Tarzi-i-Afghan. Author of "Akhlaq-i-Hamidah" and "Koliat-i- Divan Farsi Tarzi Kandahari" (1893). m. (first) Bobo Jan (d. at Kabul, after 1912), a niece of Sardar Payinda Khan, Sarfraz Khan, Chief of the Barakzai clan. m. (second) Murwarid Begum [Bibi Ko], daughter of his paternal uncle, Sardar Mehr Dil Khan. m. (third) Narinj Begum, from Kohistan. m. (fourth) Shahzadi Sultanat Begum (d. at Kabul, 1908, bur. Mausoleum of Timur Shah), daughter of Shahzada Maudad Durrani. m. (fifth) Nazira, an Algerian lady. m. (a) Yasmin Bibi, a surati. He d. at Damascus, Syria, 8th December 1900 (or 5th February 1901) (bur. there at the Hazrat Dahdah Cemetery), having had issue, eleven sons and six daughters:
