1598 - 1627 Amir-i-Afghan Sado Khan [Malik Saddu], Governor of Safa and Chief of the Alus Abdali. b. at Kandahar, 11^th October 1558, son of Malik Saleh, by his wife and cousin. Succeeded his father as chief of the tribe, the Alus Habibzai. United the Afghan tribes and took control of Safa and became Chief of the Alus Abdali, 26^th July 1598. Assisted Emperor Jahangir in taking Kandahar from the Safavids, and was recognised as Amir-i-Afghan (cdr. of the Afghan forces) in 1622. Governor of Kandahar 1622-1626. He d. 18^th March 1627. He had issue, five sons:

1) Khwaja Khizar Khan, Governor of Safa and Chief of the Alus Abdali - see below.
2) Sultan Maudad Khan, Governor of Safa and Chief of the Alus Abdali - see below.
3) Kamran Khan. b. before 17^th July 1586. He d. before 12^th April 1641, leaving issue (ancestor of the Kamran-khel):

  - ii) Harun Khan Kamran-khel. He had issue:
    - (1) Fathu'llah Khan Kamran-khel.
    - (1) A daughter. m. Nawab Zahid Khan. Naib Nazim (Dep. Governor) of Multan, son of 'Abid Khan, of the Khan-khel branch of the Saddozai. She had issue - see below.
4) Bahadur Khan. b. before 30^th October 1590. He had issue, a son (ancestor of the Bahadur-khel):
- a) 'Ali Khan. He had issue, a son:
  - ii) Yusuf Khan. He had issue, a son:
    - (1) 'Abdu's Shakur Khan [Shakhru Khan]. He had issue, an only son:
      - (b) Nawab Haji Sharif Khan Bahadur. Subadar (Governor) of Multan 1770-1771 and of Dera Ghazi Khan 1771-1773. He had issue, two sons:
        
        (i) Nawab 'Abdu'l Rahim Khan Bahadur. Naib Nazim (Dep. Governor) of Multan 1770-1771, Subadar (Governor) of Dera Ghazi Khan 1798-1800. m. at Multan Fort, 1770, a daughter of Haji Mahmud Khan, of the Bahadur-khel branch of the Saddozai. He d. while on the pilgrimage to Mecca, before 14^thMay 1801, having had issue, one son:

        (ii) Haji Muhammad Khan. Qazi of Dera Ghazi Khan. He d. at Dera Ghazi Khan, before 1800, having had issue, five sons:

      - (a) Nawab Yaran Khan Bahadur [Yar Muhammad Khan]. m. a Tarin lady, who was k. by her husband in a fit of madness. He had issue, a son:
        
        (i) Muin ud-Daula, Nawab Muhammad Sarbuland Khan Bahadur, Firuz Jang. Naib Nazim (Dep. Governor) of Multan 1791-1792, Subadar (Governor) of Kachi-Shumali 1794, and of Dera Ismail Khan 1795. Raised to the titles of Muin ud-Daula, Nawab, Sarbuland Khan, Bahadur, and Firuz Jang, by Shah Zaman, December 1795. He d. at Dera Din Panah, before 21^st November 1816, having had issue, an only daughter:
        
        1. A daughter. m. Nawab Hafiz Ahmad Khan, of Dera Ismail Khan (d. at Dera Ismail Khan, 1825), son of 'Abdu'l Rahman Khan. She had issue, at least one son:
        
        a. Nawab Sher Muhammad Khan, of Dera Ismail Khan.
5) Zafran Khan. b. before 21^st June 1602. He left issue (ancestor of the Zafran-khel):
- a) Aidal Khan. m. a daughter of his uncle, Khan Maudad Khan Saddozai. He had issue:
  - i) Jalal Khan (s/o Khan Maudad Khan's daughter). Fled to India during the reign of Sultan Hayat Khan Khudakka. He had issue:
    - (1) Said Khan. He had issue:
      - (a) Qasim Khan. Killed Sultan 'Abdu'llah Khan, seized Herat and assumed the command of the Alus Abdali, 13^th November 1721. He was k. in battle with Muqarrab Khan, at Herat, June 1722.
    - (2) A daughter. m. 'Abid Khan, second son of Allah Dad Khan, of the Khan-khel branch of the Saddozai. She had issue, two sons and one daughter - see above.
  - i) A daughter. m. Daulat Khan, son of Sarmast Sultan Khan, of the Khizr-khel branch of the Sadozai. She had issue, at least one son - see above.

1627 Khwaja Khizr Khan, Governor of Safa and Chief of the Alus Abdali. b. 29^th September 1582, eldest son of Amir-i-Afghan Malik Saddu, Governor of Safa and Chief of the Alus Abdali. Succeeded his father as Governor of Safa and Chief of the Alus Abdali, 18^th March 1627. He d. (or was k. by his younger brother) 13^th September 1627), having had issue, two sons (ancestor of the Khizr-khel):

1) Sultan Khuda Dad Khan [Khudai Sultan], Sultan of Safa and Chief of the Alus Abdali - see below.
2) Sardar Sarmast Sultan Khan. b. 1614. Disputed the succession of his nephew, Inayat Khan. He was k. in battle, ca. 1666, having had issue, a son:
- a) Sardar Daulat Khan. m. daughter of Aidal Khan, of the Zafran-khel branch of the Sadozzai. He had issue, a son and a daughter:
  - i) Sardar Muhammad Zaman Khan (s/o Aidal Khan's daughter). Fled to Multan with his cousin in 1682. Returned to Safa with his brother-in-law, and was appointed as his Naib (Deputy) 1704, and of Herat 1720. Rebelled against Sultan 'Abdu'llah Khan and proclaimed his independence, March 1721. Defeated and taken captive June 1721. m. Zarghuna Begum, daughter of Khalu Khan Alkozai. He was k. on the orders of Sultan 'Abdu'llah Khan, before 26^thJune 1721, having had issue, three sons:
    - (1) Sardar Zulfikhar Khan. Disputed the succession of Muhammad Khan in 1723-1724. Forced into exile by the elders of the tribe at Pamarz Wa Chaman, a valley east of Herat. Returned and organised a rebellion against Allah Yar Khanin 1727. Defeated and fled to Farah, his stronghold. Conquered Herat from Allah Yar Khan, 21^st April 1730. Forced to surrender the fort to him by Nadir Shah, 22^nd August 1731. Imprisoned at Kandahar Fort 1731-1738. Freed by Nadir Shah and granted lands at Mazandaran.
    - (2) 'Ali Mardan Khan. Imprisoned at Kandahar Fort 1731-1738. He had issue, a son:
      - (a) Luqman Khan.
    - (3) Ahmad Khan, who became H.M. Padshah Dur-i-Durran Ahmad Shah, Padshah of Afghanistan (s/o Zarghuna Begum) - see below.
  - i) A daughter. m. Sultan 'Abdu'llah Khan, Shah of Herat and Sultan of Safa (b. at Safa, 1670; k. by Qasim Khan Zafran-khel, at Rauda Bagh, Herat, 13^th November 1721), eldest son of Sultan Hayat Khan Khudakka, Sultan of Safa and Chief of the Alus Abdali - see below.
