To all of the listeners of Hurley in the Morning, readers of HarryHurley.com, my family and many friends, and all of the concerned individuals, I wanted to express my sincere gratitude.
The outpouring of genuine concern and good wishes from all of you, have deeply moved me.
Life has a way of making it's own plans, while we many times believe that we are in the process of making our own plans.
I recently received another one of life's knockdowns. However, I remain eternally optimistic and grateful that it was not a knockout.
I have always tried to live a life free from worries, so accordingly, I have never wanted others to worry about me either. So, the privacy I've sought was to merely permit me to deal with what I have to, in order to get over this recent hurdle. It is never my intent to shut out good, caring people.
It is during times like these, that it is important to know that none of us is ever truly alone in this pass thru life.
The countless calls, cards and letters I have received, once again justifies my faith in the true goodness of others. It would be impossible within this letter to thank all of you individually, (I will in time).
I feel very lucky to have been left in the condition I find myself. Some might wonder how you could feel "lucky," but then just think of the alternative condition that might have been possible.
While I have been bowled over on other occasions through the years, this one seems to have hurt a bit more. As I write this to you, I am looking forward to implementing the plan of action to get myself moving again. I will keep you posted.
At this point, I would urge others to be mindful of where and how you situate yourself in your motor vehicles.
1. Pay close attention to how close you find yourself in relation to where your vehicles airbags will deploy.
2. Do not place objects in or around your vehicles dashboard or rear view mirror. Many people call these decorations. I call them projectiles. They will launch upon impact and could be the cause of your injury or death, or that of your occupants.
3. Passengers must be mindful of their position relating to the dashboard , where their airbags will activate for them.
4. Wear a full and completely adjusted seat belt. Air bags are fruitless without proper restraint!
5. Be certain that your head rest is adjusted to cradle your full head, in the event you are thrusted into it. It is important that it not be "conveniently" located out of the way, where it will cut into your neck, not properly supporting your head and neck at the same time.
I don't intend for any of this to sound too much like a lecture. In actuality, It is my firm belief that all of these factors contributed in my blessing of 10 days ago!
In closing, I would like to communicate my sincere thanks for all of the kindness so many of you have expressed to me. I never take it for granted!
Sincerely,
