ATLANTIC CITY - Robert Flipping, Ron Cash, Cheryl and Wilbur Banks have all been formally served with subpoenas to appear before City Council this upcoming February 24th.
A source familiar with the subpoenas has confirmed that the above name City employees will be asked to testify under oath as to their: salary, residence, who they are related to and more.
It's rather ironic that Craig Callaway, of all people, would be asking people to formally testify where they live ... this guy is the perhaps the biggest political hypocrite in the Region.
An important issue that is sure to come up soon ... is the very existence of the position of City Council Solicitor. Current law appears clear that Council may not have its own solicitor. The only reason the position appears to exist is that no one has ever formally challenged it.
It appears as though a formal challenge of the Council Solicitor's position is imminent.
Former Mayor James Whelan successfully took City Council to court several years ago when he challenged the appointment of Arthur Bunting as a Budget Analyst.
It would certainly appear as if the Solicitor's concept fits in the exact same category.
But, always remember ... These are trying and unusual times ... It's Bizarro World and anything is possible.
